Cameroon

In Cameroon, Cegelec started its activities in 1979 by providing the oil sector with extensive expertise in the fields of instrumentation, technical installations and mechanical services for offshore platforms. Today, it has extended its activities to telecommunications, maintenance and the service sector.

With a permanent staff of 380, Cegelec in Cameroon has become a major partner of the public authorities.

Early 2004, Orange entrusted Cegelec with the supply and installation of telecoms pylons between Yaoundé and Douala to start with, between Yaoundé and Bafoussam at a second stage. Cegelec also undertook the maintenance and renovation work of the capital city’s street lighting networks (road, tunnels), representing 170 km of lighted streets and 8000 light fittings for the urban community of Yaoundé.

Cegelec was entrusted by SONEL (Société Nationale d’Electricité known as AES SONEL) to carry out the electrical networks densification project of Cameroon’s two main cities: Douala and Yaoundé.

In the same year, inspite of fierce international competition, Cegelec won the contract for the modernisation of technical installations (plumbing, HVAC and fire protection) at the headquarters of Société nationale d’investissement (SNI) in Yaoundé. For the Société Nationale des Eaux (SNEC), Cegelec completed rehabilitation work of pumping stations and repair work of water pipes.

In 2003, Cegelec was contracted for the electrical installation of two buildings belonging to the Minoteries d’Afrique.

Further contracts representative of our expertise include electrical maintenance and instrumentation work for Total and Perenco ; in the service sector, Cegelec is involved in HVAC revamping projects for various buildings.

The expertise of Cegelec Cameroon’s teams extends far beyond the borders of the country.
