Paris, 9 March 2005
Cegelec, an integrated international group providing technological services for companies and communities, which had already been chosen to build the f irst two lines of the Lyon tramway system, has won several contracts for the installation of Lea, the future line in the East of the Lyon conurbation, for an overall sum over of 10 million Euros.
Cegelec has been awarded two contracts covering the whole of the electromechanical
process of the new tramway line (the traction energy in association with Ineo and the overhead contact line with TSO) and is leading a consortium with Alstom for the construction of the rail signalling.
Lea will be the first peri- urban tramway in France to control level crossings protected by barriers. The relatively high number of these barriers (26) over the 15 km of the section and the high commercial speed when crossing them involves the use of systems which are more commonly used in the field of rail signalling, in which Cegelec has acquired substantial experience.
In the rail field Cegelec is developing global service offers comprising engineering, construction and maintenance of systems. Cegelec has already been chosen by 13 French cities for the development or maintenance of their public transport networks (metro or tramway), and is also establishing itself as a major international player in this field, with major projects in Europe (Athens, Prague and, at the end of last year, the electrification of the new Turin met ro) and throughout the world (Bangkok, Istanbul, Cairo, Mexico City and Singapore).
