Cegelec involved in the construction of the new Soyuz launch pad at the European Space Centre

Frankfurt (AIRTEC Fair), 24 October 2007

Cegelec, an integrated global group providing technological services to companies and local authorities, is part of the European consortium entrusted with the supply and installation of the low current-security systems and the fluid systems on the Soyuz rocket launch site currently under construction at the European Space Centre in French Guiana. As a key member of this consortium led by the Italian company Vitrociset, Cegelec is responsible for the fluid systems and the extinguishing in the fluid technical premises.

This 2-year contract, with a total global value for the consortium of about 17 million euros, has been concluded with CNES within the context of the European Space Agency (ESA) Soyuz programme. It has arisen from the decision made by ESA member states to integrate Soyuz launchers into the family of European launchers operated by Arianespace from the space centre in French Guiana.

As Cegelec has been present on the Kourou site for nearly 40 years, the company can rely on a solid experience in the completion of similar ground facilities, acquired during the Ariane and Vega programmes.

With nearly 150 persons on-site at the space centre, Cegelec ensures the running and maintenance of fluid facilities and mechanical systems for the Ariane 5 launch complex on behalf of Arianespace. Cegelec is also entrusted by Arianespace and CNES with the operation and maintenance of the payload (satellite) preparation complexes, the maintenance of individual safety systems and the design and works office at the Space Centre.
