New Cegelec Group company in Brazil and
signature of a partnership agreement with Energ Power
Sao Paulo/Paris, 5 January 2009
Cegelec, an international group providing technological services to companies and public authorities, has created a new company in Brazil, Cegelec Renewable, which will contribute to the development of the Group in the field of renewable energy.
This new entity has entered into a strategic partnership with Energ Power, the Brazilian engineering company based in Belo Horizonte (MG).
Energ Power was founded in 1986 and offers complete engineering solutions, from conceptual design to commissioning for hydroelectric power projects. With its 500 employees and 12 large EPC contracts in execution, the company has become one of the main players in the hydropower market in Latin America.
The partnership between the two companies will permit Energ Power to strengthen its position on this fast growing market. It will come into force in the coming weeks after completion of some administrative formalities. Further, Cegelec has an option to take the control of Energ Power by early 2010.
Cegelec Group has been present in Brazil since 1974, with its subsidiary Cegelec Ltda with headquarters in Sao Paulo and four subsidiaries throughout Brazil. Cegelec Ltda has 3,000 employees and is active in the industry and building sector on the complete service cycle to the customer, from design to installation and maintenance.
The Cegelec Group employs 25,000 employees in some 30 countries worldwide. Its 2007 turnover was 3 billion Euros.
