Cegelec launches second Energy Talent Challenge

Paris, 4 March 2010

Cegelec, an international group providing technological services to companies and public authorities, has launched the second edition of its Energy Talent Challenge for students in engineering and other technical courses.

The theme of this year’s contest is “Renewable Energies, Sustainable Achievements”, with prizes awarded to the participants who present the best project for improving the energy efficiency of public lighting.

Offering over €5,000 in prize money, the Energy Talent Challenge, an initiative of the Cegelec subsidiary in south-eastern France, is aimed at students from 170 schools and universities in the region, as well as students throughout the country working towards degrees in engineering and other technical subjects. In total, more than 30,000 students are eligible to participate.

Cegelec is currently distributing posters and brochures about the contest to the schools and universities concerned. Further information and entry forms are available at www.talentsdenergies.com (in French only). The deadline for entries is 31 March.

A jury, whose members include electrical engineering and public lighting experts from Cegelec, will meet in the second quarter of the year to select the winners of the 2010 Energy Talent Grand Prix, the innovation award and the award for the best alternative energy solution.

In 2009, prizes were awarded to students from the ENSAM ParisTech and HEI Lille engineering schools, the CFAI 84 training centre and Emile Peytavin high school at a ceremony held at the regional Cegelec headquarters close to Marseille.
