Cegelec to modernise control system of GASCO
NGL extraction plant in Bu Hasa, Abu Dhabi

Paris, 29 June 2010

Cegelec, an international group providing technological services to companies and public authorities, will replace the existing turbine control systems for the two production trains of the GASCO NGL extraction plant in Bu Hasa, Abu Dhabi.

The US$ 7 million contract with GASCO provides for a complete retrofit of six control systems during scheduled shutdowns with a minimum downtime. The upgrade for one train will take place still this year while the second one is to be performed at the end of 2011.

After winning recently a contract with Qatar Petroleum to replace a turbine control system in Mesaieed, this new contract is yet another recognition of Cegelec’s capability to conduct turnkey control system modernisation within a short period of time and under stringent shutdown conditions, which requires full proficiency in all aspects of project management.

Cegelec has a long-standing relationship with GASCO. It completed back in 2005 the Bu Hasa Integrated Control System project (HICS) regarding the plant’s control room modernisation. More recently, the Group was also entrusted with the Asab and Bab Integrated Control System Project (ABICS).

For Jean-Michel Lang, Vice President of Cegelec Oil&Gas, “the tight deadline imposed by GASCO for the first shutdown is an exciting challenge for our teams. I believe that our solid experience and strong expertise in fields such as engineering and procurement, our efficiency in managing shutdowns, and our many references on site, have all been reasons for GASCO to select Cegelec for its new project. We are very much looking forward to meeting their high expectations.”

Cegelec, a subsidiary of VINCI, is an integrated international group providing technological services to companies, public and local authorities. Cegelec is active on the complete service cycle to the client, from design to installation and maintenance, working with its own specialised teams. The Group employs 25,000 people and is present in some 30 countries in France, Europe and other parts of the world.
