Non-destructive testing consists of detecting, pinpointing, identifying and measuring defects in parts, structures and assemblies without damaging or disassembling them. This service is critical for manufacturers and transport infrastructure.
This is particularly true in the nuclear power industry, where we use automated equipment — for example, the Rodin tool — to test reactor coolant and secondary cooling system components, such as steam generators, vessels, nozzles and heat exchangers.
Statistics that reflect solid experience :
1,200 steam generators, or 10,000 kilometres of tubes
3,000 heat exchangers, representing several million tubes
400 core instrumentation networks
1,000 control rod assemblies inspected in less than two years.
In the oil industry, areas where our expertise is called on include pipeline inspection and checking the integrity of LNG carriers. We inspect rotors for leading turbine manufacturers. In the aerospace industry, our services include inspecting rotating parts in jet engines and testing propulsion systems for the Ariane heavy-lift launcher.
In the transport sector, we perform ultrasound and x-ray inspection of compressor shafts, brake disks and other parts. We also have contracts for automated inspection of train axles.
All of our response teams — more than 150 people — are certified by the French Non-Destructive Testing Confederation (COFREND) or hold Qualified Data Analyst (QDA) certification in the United States.
Cegelec is certified by the leading energy, aerospace, petrochemicals and shipping companies for the full range of non-destructive testing, such as ultrasound, x-ray and electromagnetic techniques.
In addition, we have our own training centre and have obtained COFREND certification for our integrity testing centre.
