As part of a consortium led by GE Energy, Cegelec will supply the electrical and mechanical Balance of Plant (BOP) and civil works for a turnkey thermal power plant for Office national de l'Electricité (ONE), Morocco's electric utility.
The overall contract is worth more than €200 million, with €96 for Cegelec, and will be executed at ONE's Kenitra facility, north of Rabat. The power plant will comprise three GE 9E turbines manufactured at GE Energy's Belfort plant in France, with a combined rating of 315 MW in simple cycle (SC) operation. Work is expected to be completed in 25 months, enabling the facility to meet fast-growing energy demand in Morocco by 2012.
