Cegelec has won the renovation contract for the energy supply network of the tramways and trolleys in Saint-Etienne, certain installations being over 50 years old. This includes renovating or creating 4 sub-stations and replacing the automatic control systems. So as not to disturb the running of the public transport system, the new equipment will be started up in place of the old equipment, one at a time, by a series of switchovers. At the end of the work the installations will be able to function on 600 Vcc and 750 Vcc (for the future rolling stock). A second tram line should be operational this coming autumn.
