Cegelec was established in Brazil in 1974, with its head office in Sao Paulo. Cegelec Brazil employs 3,000 people in some 40 sites and five branches (Rio de Janeiro, Bahia, Espirito Santo, Sao Paulo and Rio Grande do Sul States).
Cegelec forcefully combines the multi-technical competencies of the group internationally and local proximity to its clients, and has successfully established itself as one of the major players with both private and public companies. Advanced technological solutions and excellent quality services have always constituted one of Cegelec's priorities in Brazil; it has been awarded ISO 9001 and ISO 14001, SA8000 (Social Accountability) and OHSAS 18001 (Health and Safety) certifications. Cegelec was the first engineering company in Brazil to achieve the certification in these four patterns.
In Brazil, the maintenance service share account for 70% of the turnover, while Oil&Gas and Mining is being stepped up.
The following are notable and recent projects in Brazil : the construction on behalf of Technip, of the Petrobras’ Natural Gas Processing Unit III (UPGN III), including the Gas Treatment Unit III (UTG III) and the Compressors Station of Uburana VI (ECUB VI) ; the installation of the electrical systems of the entire Rio Polimeros gas-chemical complex, the largest petrochemical plant in South America ; the EPC erection of all electrical systems, including material supply, for the new tire factory of Continental Tires in Camaçari (Bahia) ; the construction of 33 metallic skids for 11 City Gates (gas distribution points) on behalf of Promon Engenharia, as part of the Petrobras’ modernization of its Gasodute plant.
