Cegelec has just celebrated being present in Mexico for a quarter of a century. Since 1979, through its profound involvement in the major infrastructure and industrial site projects, Cegelec has positioned itself as an active player in the development of the greatest economic power in Latin America.
In Mexico, Cegelec supplies the Group's key competences, which are subdivided according to the specific requirements of its clients, whether public and private, local or international, such as Degremont, Daimler-Chrysler, Capufe, Violet Reinforcement, DuPont, Saint-Gobain, BASF Mexicana, CFE, Thales, Pemex, etc.
For CFE, the Mexican electricity company, Cegelec is participating in the huge programme to deploy an optical fibre network on high voltage lines. In 2004, in conjunction with Alcatel as a supplier of cables and connection technology, Cegelec fitted, in record time, over 2,300 km of optical fibres. Also for CFE, Cegelec renovated the Botello hydro-electric mini-power station (9 MW), a niche in which the Group holds a turnkey expertise in the field of substations, turbo-alternators and control, with a capacity for combining civil engineering and the supply of turbo-alternator units.
Cegelec has also taken on the electricity, command and control and telecommunications systems for Los Azufres geothermal power station.
For Violet Reinforcement, Cegelec has built the electrical installation of the new glass fibre factory (Tlaxcala), and for the public motorway company, Capufe, it has modernised motorway toll stations. In spring 2005, Degremont gave Cegelec electrical installation and command and control of the new water treatment plant in San Luis Potosi, in the north of the country.
